The rules of the road
Terms of service
These terms cover the use of NameForge, a free name generator toolset. Using the site means agreeing to the points below, written in plain English rather than legal boilerplate.
Using NameForge
NameForge is free to use for personal or commercial projects. Each generator runs entirely in your browser, so there is no account to create and nothing to sign up for.
Generated names are yours
Names produced by any generator are not trademarked, reserved, or owned by NameForge. They are yours to use on a character sheet, in a story, on a gamer tag, or above a shop door. Before using a generated name for anything commercial, such as a real business or band, do your own trademark and availability checks. A generator has no way of knowing what names are already claimed in the real world.
No warranty
NameForge is provided as is, without warranty of any kind. Names are produced by randomised rules and word banks, and while every effort goes into making them sound right for their genre, we cannot guarantee a result is free of an unintended meaning, an existing trademark, or a resemblance to a real name or brand.
Advertising
NameForge may display advertising from third-party networks to help keep the tool free to use. Ads can be served by partners such as Google. Details on how that works, including cookies and consent for EEA and UK visitors, are covered in the privacy policy.
